Born in 1976 in the city of Portsmouth, Stuart Nicholls studied photography at Southdowns College, and continued at Stoke-on-Trent college before returning to Portsmouth, where his career as a music photographer took off.
In the year 2000 luck, or initiative, allowed him to start working alongside Jill Furmanovsky in London and he has since become the printing specialist in both digital inkjet and traditional dark room techniques for rockarchive.com.
His own portfolio now includes commissions from up and coming alternative bands a few being The Subways, Crash Convention, Delays, Wry from Brazil, Houston 500 and, already established, The Bluetones and Aqualung. Stuart's unique style is fast becoming recognized throughout the industry. Record companies are also appreciating his work such as WEA Records, Rough Trade, and he holds the position of resident photographer at the Islington Academy and has worked on several jobs for Carling, the latest being photographer for their latest advertising campaign 'Cold Beer, Music'.
